walked in the door. party of four (my wife and our 2 kids). nobody at the front. within 5 minutes, several parties came in. the hostess (unknown) came out of the back with some diners to ring them up. she yells to the groups lined up (us in front) "Are you waiting for a table?" we replied yes. she tells us WE need to sign in. huh? she tells us this like we are dummies and don't know the operating procedures. we turned and walked out. first time - last time. this place may be the favorite of the local senior citizens (that is the majority of who we saw dining there), but we'll spend our vacation money elsewhere.

What can you say. . . every Russ's is about the same. The food is always good and the service is always right up to par. You can't go to a better place for the money!! The median age is grandpa and grandma but hey, I loved my grandpa and grandma!

Exactly what you would expect from an old folks home away from home, the food here is standard "family restaurant" style, greasy and unimaginative, a favorite of local geezers who don't have any experience with really great food and don't care because it's so cheap here. Wow the elderly love their Russ'. For the rest of us it is just below Perkins meets Denny's. OK, but not the worst. My perception is that this WMI chain has slid steadily downward in quality over the past few decades. The service, however, at the GH location is beyond awful. Our waitress not only screwed up 2 of our 3 orders, she double charged us for our basket of onion rings appetizer. Example: my 8 year old ordered a BLT with no tomato and no mayo -- what he got was barely toasted warm bread with just bacon and a massive schmear of mayo. My wife clearly gave this special order to the waitress, but whether it was simple incompetence or just not having to care, we'll never know. When dropping off our check she explained to us that she was running around so much because people were pouring in from a winter parade that had just ended. I guess they are not used to having customers. We occasionally go back because the burgers and onion rings are a classic style guilty pleasure, especially the hand-dipped batter on those rings -- brings me back to childhood trips Friday night to Mr. Fables and Bill Knapps. Greasy but great. Twisted I know, but I actually like the weird Reuben Soup, and some of the desserts are pretty darn good too. So it's a mixed bag on Russ' -- like it and dislike it pretty equally -- greasy cheap and worth a visit if you order the right things, have realistic expectations, and get a halfway decent server.

I tried this restaurant today in my search for good food in the greater Muskegon area. Unlike other reviews our service was fine. The food quality is very poor though. Their "mission statement" states quality food and quality ingredients. I have to disagree. The search continues.

Basically like a Denny's or Big Boy except they don't serve breakfast all day - which to me is the whole point of eating at a Denny's or Big Boy. If they did all day breakfast, I would rate them like a diner and give them a three or four; the fact that they don't just makes it kind of a low end sit-down chain. Service was indeed pretty indifferent.

Ok the food is not that bad. Greasy cheap and not good but not the worst, but when you add in the fact that this joint has the worst service my husband and I have ever had. I get that we are not the normal customers they get there. We are about 40 years too young . Lol I'm 30 . Here is the thing we are responsible clean and great tippers so you lose Russ' no more us.

Nice people. Pretty decent food. Their service isn't in any sort of rush. Took me 15 to pay my bill

I love the Russ chain of restaurants. This one isn't always the best for service, but it depends on the server. It's kind of an elderly hangout but I like it alright. The reuban sandwich is really good. The fried fish and chicken are good as well. They have great traditional American dinners and outstanding desserts. Once a week they have all you can eat fish.
